This is primarily representative of two collections of trouvère songs with devotional texts which is enhanced by a descriptive commentary on the socio-historical context which gave rise to the phenomenon of vernacular devotional songs in late medieval Europe. This volume tries to make all of its parts--history, texts, music, and interpretations--as accessible to readers of varied backgrounds as possible
